List of oils in the MB 229.52 specification
The MB 229.52 specification introduced in 2015 for engine oils used in selected gasoline and diesel engines (with and without DPF filter), especially engines in BlueTEC technology produced by Mercedes. MB 229.52 is backwards compatible with MB 229.51. Oils in the MB 229.52 specification also meet the ACEA C3 standard and come in viscosity grades 0w30 and 5w30.
The MB 229.52 specification allows for safe use of oil in engines with codes:
- petrol: M132, M176, M256, M266, M270, M271, M274 (except type 213 053)
- diesels: OM 607, OM 626, OM 629, OM 640, OM 642, OM 646, OM 651, OM 654, ohm 656, OM 660.
Advantages of engine oils in the MB 229.52 specification:
- Low ash content (Low SAPS) extends the life of DPF filters.
- Reduces fuel consumption compared to MB 229.51 specification
- The MB 229.52 specification ensures that the oil with it has good antioxidant protection (also at high temperature) - the oil loses its parameters slower and is deposited much slower in the engine as sludge.
- The specification allows the use of oil at extended drain intervals (Longlife)
- MB 229.52 requires the engine oil to have increased fluidity during winter periods for better protection of the engine during starting.
- The oil of the MB 229.52 specification quickly reaches the operating temperature in which it best protects the engine.
