RN 17FE

RN17 FE specification - list of oils

The RN17 FE specification was developed for oils for gasoline and diesel engines installed in models of cars of such brands as: Renault, Dacia, Samsung, offered from August 2018 and equipped with DPF, SRC or GPF filters. The RN17 FE specification is not backwards compatible, which means that the oil in this specification cannot be used interchangeably with the oils in the RN0700, RN0710, RN0720, RN17 and RN17 RSA specifications.

Advantages of the RN17 FE

  • Renault has developed the RN17 FE standard for oils that are able to withstand the toughest thermal conditions that can occur in engines with modern exhaust gas treatment systems.
  • RN17 FE specification oils contain a reduced ash level (Mid-SAPS) which extends the life of modern exhaust gas treatment systems such as DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), SCR (Selective Catalyst Reduction) and GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter).
  • RN17 FE provides a synthetic base material which translates into high thermal stability and exceptional resistance to high temperatures. This prevents sludge formation and keeps the engine clean. Reduces the risk of cylinder rings sticking together.
  • The low volatility in the RN17 FE specification and the exceptional resistance of the oil to oxidation allows for extended oil drain intervals.
  • The RN17 FE specification requires a viscosity grade of 0w20 which facilitates cold engine starting.
RN17 FE specification formulation and 0W-20 viscosity reduce the hydrodynamic friction of the oil, which results in fuel economy, especially when the lubricant is cold.
