Specification B71 2290 - list of oils.

In 2009, the PSA Group created the B71 2290 specification for oils for most gasoline and diesel engines operating in severe thermal conditions in Citroen / Peugeot cars equipped with an exhaust gas cleaning system such as DPF. However, the B71 2290 specification is not suitable for cars with engines equipped with the SCR: BlueHDi system.

Benefits:

  • Oils with the B71 2290 specification protect especially gasoline direct injection turbo engines against the risk of pre-ignition in the combustion chambers. This type of occasional abnormal sound is like a metallic sound and is sometimes associated with a brief loss of power. This phenomenon is known as LSPI (Low Speed ​​Pre-Ignition). LSPI generates very high pressure peaks in the combustion chamber that can damage the pistons.
  • Low ash content protects DPF filters from premature wear.
  • Oils in the B71 2290 specification have increased resistance to oxidation and shear at high temperatures, which is associated with a loss of the initial viscosity.
