BMW Longlife-12 FE - selected oils

The BMW Longlife-12 FE specification defines the parameters of oils adapted to work with BMW diesel engines produced from 2014. Oils with the BMW Longlife-12 FE specification are also approved for BMW gasoline engines with and without a diesel particulate filter from model year 2002 in the zone EU together with Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Exact application:

  • The BMW Longlife-12 FE standard is only relevant for BMW diesel engines where this specification is required and fitted to cars manufactured from model year 2014 onwards (all B37 3-cylinder engines, 4-cylinder engines and 6-cylinder engines from 2016) equipped with maximum one turbocharger.
  • Oils for all BMW gasoline engines from the 2002 model year, offered in the European Union countries as well as Norway, Switzerland and Lichtenstein, but especially the Nx7K1, Nx7U1 and Nx701 engines.
  • The BMW LL-12 FE specification is not adapted to oils for engines equipped with 2 or 3 turbochargers.

Advantages of the BMW Longlife-12 FE

  • Oils of this specification allow to reduce fuel consumption in comparison with the reference oil BMW LL-01.
  • Oils in the BMW Longlife-12 FE specification form an extremely tear-resistant oil film.
    They are resistant to high temperature and oxidation, which reduces the amount of sediment formed from used oil.
  • Oil in this specification allows to maintain the appropriate pressure in the oil system, and effectively lowers the engine operating temperature.
  • The BMW Longlife-12 FE specification is characterized by parameters facilitating a cold start and reduced friction in the engine.
